Hospital and After

[Leon Davenport] There is no sounds in the room except the beeping of the machines in the room, checking Amy’s status, helping her stay alive. There wasn’t anyone in the room except Amy and a very silent, very angry person sitting on a chair. Doctors and nurses have come and gone, never staying long in the presence on the blond man, with the scary presence, looking at the young woman, almost unblinking

Owen had been called, the theurge was on his way to help Amy. He had no idea if Sarita was coming back soon. The Strider had been really pissed during their conversation. She wasn’t sure how soon she’d be back.

So he was there, since a quarter past noon, the staff hadn’t been too much of a trouble when he arrived. The “fiance”looked concerned and grigtening enough that they ust let him take a chair and sit. He hadn’t moved ever since, not to get water, food, nor going to the bathroom. His eys staying on her, watching for signs that she will wake up

[Amy] Her eyes open at one point, closing again almost immediately. She’s perfectly still, though that may be as much from the broken condition of her body as anything else. A female officer is on standby to question her, though evidence collection had been accomplished when she first arrived.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She makes her way back through the hospital. She’s calmer, certainly. She’s had time. And killed someone. Anyone looking very, very close would see a few flecks of blood on her duster from the spray after the bullet entered Ricky’s temple. No one would see it unless they were looking for it, though Leon can probably smell a faint coppery odor of the when she comes in.

She shuts the door behind her, nodding to Leon. There’s no smile, just steps that take her to the side of the bed, where she looks at Amy with a blank expression. “Hey.” It’s to Leon, mostly. Her arms cross over her chest. “How is she?”

[Leon Davenport] He tilt his head “I think she’s awake, but not entirely sure, she might have passed out again” He say in a low voice. He look at Sarita’s duster “Trouble? Or Therapy?”He ask, knowing she would know what he was talking about

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She shrugs slightly. “Therapy and removing a potential problem. Step one, anyway. Step two will be later.”

She moves around to the other side of the bed and reaches out for Amy’s hand. She pauses and hesitates, like she’s afraid the hand will turn into a snake and bite her. She takes a breath and steels herself, then gently takes Amy’s hand.

[Leon Davenport] He nodded “Want me ot come for step two? I think it would do me some good” He say, the chair squeaking as he finaly got up “You have no idea wehy she got hurt?’

[Amy] Nothing bites. Nothing moves. She may well be out again, except for the slightly elevated heart rate on the monitor.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “I imagine she was pissed at John.” She shakes her head. “She was at the skinhead bar that we hit the other night. Being a fucking idiot by going in alone. She knows better than to go in alone.”

Indeed, she does know better than to go in alone. She lets that point hang in the air, shaking her head. A deep breath is drawn in and out.

[Leon Davenport] His handscurl into fists “John?”He simply say, the tone flat, but the anger, the rage spiking. He thoguht it was over with John. ODesn’t seem like it..at least not before this morning. He doesn’t come closer to Amy’s still form. He stay were he is, trying to breathe deeply so he could control the fie burning inside him

[Amy] Her eyes open slowly, pinned on where she thinks Leon’s voice and rage is coming from.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Hey.” She looks at Leon. It’s not hard to see what he was thinking. “It’s been over since about when it started, more or less. They haven’t been doing anything. Trust me. This was residual closure shit. And don’t take that any way but words, cause it ain–”

She cuts off when she sees Amy’s eyes open, and squeezes the kin’s hand. “Hey, you.” It’s gentle, and even with a tiny hint of warmth. As much as she can manage. “You’re an idiot.”

[Riddle me This] *He doesn’t exactly break the land speed record with his shitty little 80’s civic. Were he to even try the complaining beast of a vehicle would no doubt dump the theurge on the side of the road. Such were its quirks, the car was churlish at best. Still, Owen nudges the muddy brown deathtrap quickly down the highway and through the city, streaking beneath the shrouded judges moon on his way to the hospital. On his way to Amy.

It was true, he didn’t enjoy the kin’s company to date. She was foolhardy. A danger to herself and those who would have to rise to defend her, through bonds of sentiment or duty. Still, Leon cared for her, she was kin, and therefore a sort of family. Family Owen understood. So he drives as though it were Bella, or one of his cherished younger sisters in need of him.

Only Family can see her. Owen’s rage spikes hot, and the strangeness of his unbridled spirituality has the triage nurse worried he’s escaped from their psych ward upstairs. So it is that Owen’s approach farther down the hall is heralded by a chorus of “Sir! SIR! You can’t go in there! Only Family is al- sir? SIR!!? Someone call Security?”

And he’s not even in the room yet.*

[Leon Davenport] He’s still angry. So pissed that he might visit the bar later and lock the doors and not care who’s in the place, if all, any or none of them has touched Ay. He mgiht jsut fgo there and realese the pent up anger. He doesn’t say anything back to Sarita. He odesn’t explain how it hurt to know that she’s feeling something for John that she isn’t for him. How it feel ot know that no matter what you do, you’re second best. He doesn’t like it at all. He wasn’t made to be second. Part male vanity, part wolf instincts, part Ahroun pride.

He cared for her, more than he had cared for a kin since his first change. The fact that her relation with John is over because the Get didn’t want it, didn’t make it easier for him. Not at all. So instead of saying anything stupid or hurtful, he bit his tongue hard enough for blood to fill his mouth, just looking at Amy.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She looks up, toward the door, and sighs a bit. Yeah, this is clearly going to go well. She looks between Leon and Amy and, after a moment’s hesitation, she lets go so she can go try and smooth the situation over with the staff. “I’ll be right back.”

She looks at Amy. “Don’t go anywhere.” It’s a joke, even if it’s short on humor. She slips out to go intercept the nurse and security people and explain to them that “Steven” is “Jessica’s” spiritual healer and that as her sister, “Martine” will vouch for him.

[[Persuasion FTW!]]

[Amy] Her eyes move from Sarita to focus on the doorway, somehow already knowing that something related to her is the cause of the commotion in the hallway. Her hand tightens on her sister’s for a moment, before letting it go.

She hasn’t bothered to argue the charge of idiocy. There’s no point.

[Riddle me This] *To say Owen is disheveled is an understatement. The lanky eco-shaman has barefeet shoved into hiking boots, a dull grey wifebeater half shoved into pajama pants. Navy flannel. “Steven” was a spiritual healer by general aura alone. Smell of pot hanging heavily and no doubt familiar about his clothing, the nursing staff easily buy Sarita’s story, helped along by long hair and general intensity. That and the fact that Sarita could talk god into pulling an eighth day of overtime, and “Steven”looks like he’s going to.. do.. something if he doesn’t get his way.

He nods to Sarita wordlessly and enters the room, green eyes falling to his tribemate, then the kin on the bed, then back to his tribemate. Waiting for an update before acting.*

[Leon Davenport] He slihtly move closer to Amy, but nowhere within reach of each other “Iasked Owen to come over”He say iwthout much expression “He’ll heal you” He doesn’t look directly at her. Seeing her like this hurt…and with everything else going on in his mind..well better that he look everywhere but at her

He felt Owen coming in and nodded to the man “Thanks for coming Owen. Can you help her without things being too obvious?”He ask his tribesmate, eyes on him, with his barely controlled rage reflected in them. It wasn’t directed at Owen, the theurge probably knew that.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She shuts the door. “Obvious isn’t too much of a concern. We’re all under false names, we can get her out of here.”

She walks back over, looking like she wants to get close to Amy again but keeping some distance so as not to crowd the Walkers while Owen works. “We just don’t want her doing backflips on the way out.”

[Amy] She doesn’t quite meet Leon’s eyes when he talks to her, and doesn’t put up any sort of resistance when it’s announced that she’s going to be healed. She only gets a certain number before things start not quite knitting together right, but this is as good a time to blow one as ever.

[Riddle me This] You. You’re family. Sign her out Against Medical Advice.

*Curt, the door closing and general tenseness of the room spurring the normally reserved spirit talker into action. He turns to look idly for cameras and nods to Leon, voice rumbling with low authority.*

You. Take out the top left camera. I’d do it with a gremlin but depending on mood that can be time consuming.

*That said, he moves towards Amy, taking stock of her general condition, trying to fathom what exactly needs his attention first. Tall theurge bending over her bed, hard gaze strafing over her before he snatches her chart from the side rail.*

[Leon Davenport] “He nodded o Owen and taking his jacket off the back of his chai, he moved to place it over the camera. Once it was secured, he moved the chair in front of the door and placed it so it would block it, tilted slightly the back undser the knob.

He looked at Owen “I think we’re good to go”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She purses her lips, like she’s hesitant to leave Amy’s side, but nods and heads out. More Persuasion goes into place as she starts convincing them that she has excellent private health professionals who can handle it and…oh, just shut the fuck up and give her the forms before she turns her ass into an inbox!

Okay, maybe she’s losing a bit of her suavity for the day. She gets the forms regardless.

[Riddle me This] *A deep breath sucked through the theurge’s teeth. The kin had been raped. Green eyes shut a moment as rage flashes white hot for the space of several heartbeats. Its with a square jaw stretched tense that Owen opens his eyes and looks down at Amy, hands unfolding stiffly from the clipboard and dropping it beside her bed with a clatter. When long fingers rest on the strider kin’s bare and swollen collar, its with butterfly delicacy. His expression however, remains grim. Even as a healing tingle washes over the battered kinfolk in warm white glow of Gaia’s own love, theurge breathing deeply as he channels the Mother.*

[Amy] She winces at the touch, even though it’s barely there. Her eyes stay focused on the ceiling, barely breathing as she feels bones starting to knit and skin forming.

[Leon Davenport] He’s silent, just watching, leaning against a wall. He let Owen work his magic. His mind was and body was jsut a mess of fire and anger. But he wouldn’t leave until he knew she was gonig to be ok

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She comes back in, having signed the forms and shoved them off. She opens and shuts the door silently, watching from the distant spot in the room.

[Riddle me This] *Things couldn’t have worked out better if he had planned it. Internal damage heals. Bones knit and reform. The dry swelling of her violation dissipates entirely, leaving a kin slightly bruised, but whole in every other way. A few days and even the bruises would fade to faint yellow splotches across her skin that she could poke or bump without the reminder of her assault. Owen for his part, snatches his hands back from Amy like she’s on fire, taking a step back and nodding to Leon and Sarita in turn.*

Are we ready?

[Amy] “Thank you.” Her eyes barely flicker to Owen before looking back at the ceiling. “I need something to wear out.”

[Leon Davenport] He simply nodded. He hadn’t foundthe desire ot speak again, his mouth still tasting of copper, from when he bit his tongue too hard earlier. He wait for Amy to change into regular clothes before moving to take the jacket off the camera. Once Owen had nodded to them, his eyes has stopped looking at Amy.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Thanks, Owen.” She gives a faint but sincerely grateful smile to the Walker, then walks over to take Amy’s hand. “Hey.” She sets some of Amy’s clothes from the van on the bed. “Here you go.”

[Amy] Sitting up slowly and finding it more comfortable than she has in days, she starts to undo the various tubes and leads. Her IV is removed with a practiced ease of someone who has done it far too many times, and the edge of the bedsheet is held against the puncture for a few seconds until the blood clots. Then it’s time to stand, shrugging off the hospital gown without a single ounce of modesty so that she can get dressed.

[Riddle me This] *No longer directly needed, Owen seems to fade into the antiseptic blue of the room. He was by no means meek, nor without personality. Rather, he existed as a vague unsettling presence, not entirely there beyond the subtle pulse of rage. One foot in another world as he stares at the dull grey lino. A sharp nod to the kin and Sarita in response, theurge rumbling.*

Welcome to it.

[Leon Davenport] He nodded to Owen “Thank” He managed to say, after swallowing blood so it wouldn’t show too much that his tongue was bleeding. He look over at Sarita and Amy, his eyes not resting on Amy’s naked form as they might have in normal times. “Will you two be ok?”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “We will be.” She furrows her brow, looking at Leon. She’s a bit wary at this point, watching Leon with a slight frown. “You have to go?”

[Amy] She dresses quickly, pulling on whatever shoes Sar brought for her and watching Leon out of the corner of her eye.

[Leon Davenport] He shrugh “I don’thave to go. I thought maybe you two would like some time alone” He say “You probably have a lot to discuss together” He say while looking at Sarita “I can stay though. If you want it”He say, looking at both woman.

[Riddle me This] *The creature who’d healed the kin holds up a wall. Silent, eyes down. Waiting to see how it all plays out.*

[Amy] A young female detective, already wearing her very best ‘concerned for the victim’ look, appears in the doorway and stops short when hit by the wall of simmering rage.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She looks at Amy for a long moment. There are a whole lot of conflicting emotions there, including some Amy has never seen in Sarita’s eyes directed at her like anguish and betrayal. They’re hiding behind the worry that she’s trying to show more of, but they are there.

She looks back to Leon. “Amy and I gotta talk, yes. But that can wait. Right now, I think she needs you, and you guys gotta talk too.”

[Amy] “I’m talking to Owen first.”

[Leon Davenport] He frowned slightly when Amy say she wanted to talk to Owen. He nodded “Fine”He turn and grabbed his jacket that was hanging over the camera. He looked at the officer “Sorry Ma’am, I think she need so private time with her spirit healer” He say, piercing blue eyes looking so intense, they might be looking into the soul of the young woman officer. And he doesn’t step sideways as he move out of the room, but right in fornt f the officer, ofrcing her to back off

[Riddle me This] *Blink. Clearly he was listening, as Owen’s head rises sharply, expression one of confusion. Green eyes flick to Leon as he leaves, then back to the kinswoman. Wait… what? The look he gives Sarita is almost comical. A combination of startled puzzlement and sudden desperation. As though the Ragabash and hid own tribesmate were about to leave him alone in a cubicle with a starving lioness.*

.. pardon?

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] If it’s odd to Sarita, she doesn’t show it. She just shrugs and nods, squeezing Amy’s shoulder gently before she moves to give Owen and Amy some space. As she does so, she comes up behind Leon to help him block out the officer.

[Amy] The woman backs off quickly, looking confused when she finds the bed of the badly hurt woman empty and a roomful of scary people. She stammers something that sounds like she’ll come back later, and skitters off.

Amy sits on the edge of the bed, waiting.

[Leon Davenport] He look back at Sarita “Can you close the door ofr them?”He say before moving further in the hallway then leaned against a wall, looking at the Ragabash for a moment, but if he wanted ot say something, he decide otherwise and looked away.

[Riddle me This] *Everyone leaves. Its Owen and Amy and the muted beep of machines looking for human signatures. Green eyes rest on the bruised kin, one eyebrow up, waiting for the shoe to drop. When the girl simply sits quietly, Owen unfolds from the wall and rumbles simply.*

You’re welcome.

[Amy] “I owe you. What do you want?” She runs her fingers in her hair, trying to brush it into something resembling tamed.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She shuts the door with a short nod, taking a lean next to Leon.

“That girl needs you,” she says quietly. “I know you’ve got a lot of emotions pent up in this. I don’t blame you. Just…give it time, if you can, before you start piling on the blame. Please.”

She has a lot of emotions herself, as noted before. Anger. Frustration. Not a small amount of disgust. Fear. But right now, the deepest that she has is guilt, and for the moment, she’s letting it show. A rare thing for her.

[Leon Davenport] He look directly at Sarita “We both know it’s not true right? We both know who she needs really. I”m jsut a poor subsitute” He say in a low growl. “And you know, I feel like an idiot for believing otherwise. From the start, I”ve been a release for what John put her through.” He pause “From that night she went with me to the hotel because he rejected her, to those other moments…maye to get him to be jealous or I don’t know. I’m not saying hse doesn’t care. I”m saying..I could probably any guy who showed interest”

He tilt his head “Can you tell me I”m wrong?”

[Riddle me This] *Owen looks at the kin of pharoahs and harbingers, and his gaze is flat a moment. Then he makes a noise. A deep gravel in his chest. Unfamiliar. So much so it might take a moment to realize the dour shaman is chuckling. Shaking his head and binding long hair up off his shoulder in one long fingered hand.*

I’m not a spirit that requires Chiminage Amy.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She looks at him. “Actually, I can.” Her head tilts to the side. “You’re not just any guy who showed interest. Far as I know, she’s been over this with you, that she doesn’t want to be mated. She’s under my protection, and she wants to stay that way. But believe me, I’ve been worried that she may want to change that sometime down the line. Maybe soon.”

There’s sincerity in her voice when she speaks. “Are you John? No. And she’s not my mother. But it doesn’t mean I love her any less, just because I didn’t grow up with her. Just because you weren’t the guy who flipped her world upside down like she’s never known doesn’t mean…”

She shakes her head, looking down the hallway. “She needs you. Trust me.”

[Amy] She scowls. “And I’m not some fucking twit that expects you to fix my mistakes and not be indebted for it. If I were a trueborn, you would expect something in return. Don’t fucking treat me any different.”

[Riddle me This] *That dark eyebrow rises again, incredulous over green eyes that seem to search the kin in front of him. Looking for some sign as to what it is that sets her off. Easy to read, our Owen, as terrible a liar as they come, and his emotions are clear on his face. Mild annoyance at being snarked at again out of the blue by the hair trigger strider. Amusement despite himself at her relentless moxie, and vague worry about the trouble its sure to get her in. HAS gotten her in. He shakes his head.*

You aren’t a trueborn, Amy. But if you must be indebted to feel worthy of healing, then this is what you owe – make a genuine effort to cultivate respect and civility when dealing with those of us that are trueborn.

*That said, he crosses his arms, lips quirked wry.*

[Leon Davenport] He look at her “Maybe she needs me. Look, I’m not good at this ok. I never had any type of lasting relationship. So maybe I don’t convey my intetions clearly or what not. I’m not going around with the intention of claiming her, not without her consent. I would fight anyone who would put one on her, if she doesn’t want them to. I’m not saying I want to marry her.

But I want to spend time with her, get to know her and all that. I just can’t handle things well if she’s seeing someone else. She’s not mine. She’s hers. So Iexpect that she might eventually look elsewhere. I’m not even pretend I”ll handle it well. I just..won’t hurt her.”

He shook his head “Fuck I hate this. I can’t find the right words…I feell iek I”m jsut talking without being clea”He decided to be quiet finally.

[Amy] He may as well have hit her, from the look on her face. She nods once, stiffly, and moves for the door.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “If that’s what you want…then show her you deserve it.” She looks him over. “Let the John thing go. Believe me, it’s over.”

[Leon Davenport] He nodded to Sarita “Maybe it is.. Is it over for her, that’s the question.” He pass a hand in his hair “I..we’ll talk, her and I. Set everything straight. Want me to do that at the BroHo, so you’re nearby if something happen, or do you trust me enough that if she’s ok with it, I’ll bring her to my place?”

[Amy] She looks pissed all over again when she storms out of the hospital room, heading down the hall without bothering to see who may follow.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She frowns and watches her walk off, looking to Leon before she moves to follow. “Hey.”

[Riddle me This] *Understand this kin, Owen did not. There were two in the world he understood. He understood his little sister Lucy would always be able to kick his ass at basketball. He understood his little sister Sam would cry and wail about her boyfriends over the phone but was just “venting” and never wanted Owen to actually come talk to them. Amy, did not make sense to him. An expression of bemused bewilderment on his face as he walks slowly from the hospital room. A glance to Sarita as he falls into step, voice low.*

She insisted on repaying a debt as a blooded relative would. It would appear she does not agree with the terms. But a deal struck, is a deal made.

She’ll be respectful of her fullblooded cousins, or her debt will be yours, Sarita.

*Owen’s voice is casual, but its laced with steel. Patient as he was, he was growing weary of the Strider’s histrionics.*

[Amy] “Hey. Shall we?”

The nursing staff is too busy gaping at the woman who was unconscious two hours ago and is now walking out of the ward to make any real attempt to stop her.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “We’ll talk about it later.” It’s said as an aside as she walks after Amy. “Thanks.”

[Leon Davenport] He look at Sarita “I’ll join you in a moment” He say then looked at Owen with a grin “I think you asked her the hardest thing you could of her” He shook his head “And if she can’t repay it, I wil brother. I asked you to come. It was a favor to me”he say with a nod, looking at the staff who were staring at Amy “Fuck”He say softly “How the hell are we going to spin this one off?”

[Riddle me This] *A curt nod to Sarita, Owen falling back to give the pair space. He presses his lips together as undue attention is given to the miraculously healed in. So much for wheeling her out in a goddamn chair.*

A gremlin to the cameras and … some sort of heavy painkiller administered.

Do you have any contacts within the medical community?

[Amy] She stops, turning around slowly and looking at Leon for the first time all day. “It’s not yours to repay. If you do, you’ll never see me again.”

Little off the deep end there, maybe?

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She just shakes her head. “C’mon. Van outside.”

She’s pretty monosyllabic at this point. And in her head, she’s half-considering what the quickest route out of the city is.

[Riddle me This] *Owen bites his tongue and scrubs his beard. The girl had just suffered severe trauma. He would give her this incedent gratis, despite his wearing patience. Looking around, he heads back to the hospital room to dispose of her chart. There were more important things at stake than prideful kin.*

[Leon Davenport] He didn’t react to Amy’s words for now. They will tak later. He shook his head at Owen “No no contacts.”He frown “Dammit, this sucks”He’s half tempted to beat up a girl looking liek Amy and put her in her palce…but in fact…maybe Amy should be beat up again and put back in bed. He shook his head. Ok, that wasn’t fair. But they still had a problem to solve. Moving with Owen he ask softly “Any chance we can switch charts with another patient nad make it so people would have been mistaken between her and osmeone else?”

[Amy] She turns again, quiet as they make their way out and to the van. Getting in the front and closing her door, she looks out the side window.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] [[*Points out that Sarita said they were checked in under false names, so there’s no trail*]]

[Riddle me This] [no trail aside from people fitting their descriptions and on the hall cameras being at the heart of a miracle. *laughs*]

[Amy] (Most hospitals don’t have cameras, and since she was a crime victim from a poor area, she would have been taken to the bottom of the barrel facility anyway.)

[Riddle me This] (For the sake of expediency, we’ll assume this one doesn’t have them in the halls or something.)

[Leon Davenport] ((as long as we all agree that there’s no chance of the veil being lifte…i don’t want things to come back later to bite Leon in the ass :P))

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She sits in the driver’s seat, not saying anything. She looks over at Amy and then stars at the steering wheel.

“Hey.”

[Amy] She sighs. “What? Where do you want to start?”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “I want to go home and go to bed.” It’s said quietly, looking at the parking lot in front of them. There’s no real emotion left right now. No anger’s left. No accusation. She’s just tired.

[Riddle me This] Possibly.

*A nod from Owen, a man of action in a clinch, already stripping pertinent information from it and settling it at the side of the now empty bed.*

[Amy] She shrugs, still looking out the window.

[Leon Davenport] He waited for Owen to be done. He took his phone out and texted something then looked at Owen “Let’s have a talk outside if you don’t mind” He say ismply. His rage seem less intense now. After all, he wasn’t angy at his tribesmate. He was grateful for the man’s help. He walked quickly out of the hospital, their rage keeping the staff away but he certainly had no intetions of coming back to this place. Just in case. They managed to keep things..kinda under the lid, but he didn’t want to cahnce it.

He stepped out, talking with him, in the direction of the parking lot

[Amy] Her phone chirps from inside the bag of her limited personal things that she came in with. Digging it out, she checks the texts and sends one back.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Who was that?”

[Riddle me This] *Owen is all too glad to be free of the antiseptic shine of the hospital. He nearly beats Leon out the door, so relieved to be out of the place with all its domed mirrors and dull glass. He doesn’t even mind the bite of winter through his thin cotton A frame shirt. His pajamas hardly sufficient armor against a Chicago winter. But then, there’d seemed little time to change. Crunching footfalls bring him towards the rusted brown hunk of metal he calls a car, and with a glance around, “Steven” the spiritual guru fishes a blunt from his pocket and lights it. Leaning on the hood of his car in customary silence.*

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] [[Apologies for the super-DUPER-short posts by the way. It’s a purposeful stylistic choice for this scene. 🙂 ]]

[Leon Davenport] His phone beeped and he look at the message. He typed something back as he continued to walk with Owen

[Amy] Her phone chirps again, and she texts back.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She looks over when Amy doesn’t answer her, and just lays back in the driver’s seat. Her eyes half-lid as she checks her watch.

[Riddle me This] *A gruff noise of agreement. Owen’s own cellphone going off abruptly, playing – of all things – March Slav. He looks down at the text and his eyebrows bounce skyward, blunt pinched between his lips as he texts back, and makes to separate from Leon in a hurry, folding into his car.*

[Amy] The phone is tossed back into the bag. “Leon. He’s meeting us at the Broho. He wants to talk too. Everybody can bitch me out at once.”

[Leon Davenport] His phone beeped again and when he saw the answer…he snarled slightly, as he squeezed the phone, a cracking sound was heard and he frowned. He pressed the buttons and the screen lit up. He shook it slightly to make sure nothing as loose inside. He looked at Owen with some surprise “Hmm ok..see you later I guess” He say then look at his phone for a long time, before deciding to put it in his pockets and head for his car

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She looks over at Amy and then out the window again. “I’m not going to bitch you out. Not now.”

[Amy] “What are you waiting for?”

[Riddle me This] *Peanut fires up with a stuttering protest, and stubbing out his joint for the third time tonight, Owen is off to a posher part of town.
To deliver a Gnawer baby.

When it Rains it Pours*

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Oh.” She shakes her head. “Sorry…at the Broho, you said.” She shrugs a bit, starts up the engine and moves to drive off.

[Amy] “Oh. Alright.” She’s quiet on the way.

[Amy] (And blast off!)

The Brotherhood

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She pulls into the parking lot and walks up behind Amy, through the downstairs and straight up to the room. No talking to anyone, no smiles. She just guides them up.

[Leon Davenport] He drove the lexus to the BroHo, arriving maybe 10/15 minutes after the sisters. He had taken some time alone, in his car, to think, to breathe, to calm down. He still felt like ripping peopel apart. He might just do that tonight. Chain the doors of the fucking bar and let loose until there’s nothing left but blood, gore, bones and purifying fire. A part of him tells him not everyone involved will be there, and not everyone there was involve.d..but he so needed an output. Maybe he will be lucky and Banes will attack him or something

He stepped out of his car and walked inside. Without a look aound, he headed toward room 10. Knocking twice on thedoor.

[Amy] She opens the door for Leon, wandering to her bunk and leaving him to let himself in and close the door

[Leon Davenport] He entered the room and closed the door behind him. He didn’t move closer, but leaned against it, nodding to Sarita. He was calm enough to speak now and his tongue had stopped bleeding. His piercing blue eyes looked at Amy “What now?”He simply ask. No yelling, so hitting, no blaming, not right now anyway.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Hey.” She’s in the process of changing out of her clothes into something new. A couple more bloodspots can be seen that she was subtly covering with her duster as she peels the shirt off and tosses it aside, going for a new one. “You guys should talk. I can hang in the common room if need be.”

[Amy] “Sar…” She trails off though, not sure what else to say.

[Leon Davenport] He look at Sarita “I don’t want to kick you out of your own room Sarita. Beside i have a feeling that whatever issaid and done, you will know about it later. It’s up to you f you want a summary, or the live version”

He look at Amy “Unless you want us to talk privatly”

[Amy] She shrugs, lying back on the bed.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She shakes her head as she goes for a towel. Yes, she changed so that she could grab a towel to go shower. That shows you how with it she is.

“No, it’s cool. You guys chat. I’m going to take a shower, see if my psychotic break happens.” She looks at Amy a long moment, then heads out of the room.

[Leon Davenport] He nodded “Al right, see you later Sarita” He say before turning his attention to Amy

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She makes sure the shower is esepcially long. She has no desire to bust in on that conversation, which as far as she’s concerned could go one of ninety different ways. She’s damn near killed the hot water by the time she comes out, wrapped in a towel and cleaner, but no more vibrant than she was before. She walks down the hallway into the room, shutting it behind her.

[Amy] She looks tired, lying on her side and staring off into nothing. “Hey”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Hey.” She kics the door shut and walks over to Amy’s bed. She doesn’t say anything, and only stops if Amy seems to object; she lays down on the bed behind her and curls up with her sister.

[Amy] She doesn’t object, just wrigging around a little to make enough room. “I remembered to take an ID.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “I noticed. Thus the call to me.”

[Amy] “Things got a little out of hand.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “More than a little, I would say.”

[Amy] She shrugs a shoulder. “I guess. I needed to hit something.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Looked more like you needed something to hit you.” A pause. “Till there was no point in doing so.”

[Amy] She lets out a bitter laugh. “They stopped because it’s not okay to kill a chick. Jesus fuck. I’m not even the right thing to get beat to death.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Jessus, Amy.”

[Amy] “I just fall fucking short no matter what I try to do.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Completely untrue. You’ve gotten farther in what you’re trying to do than any kinfolk I’ve ever heard of. You’ve had a lot of success there.”

[Amy] “Yeah. Pretty good, for a kin.” She wriggles away and sits up. “He wants to be with me, but he can’t because it fucks up somebody else’s chances to knock me up. It doesn’t matter what I’ve done, or how much I’ve proven myself, or that the only fucking way I’m going to pop out kids is if somebody ties me the fuck down for nine months and forces it. All that matters is that because I’m kin, other people have say over who I can and can’t be with. Other people have power to hurt someone I care about if I don’t stay away.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “No. Fucking amazing for a kin. Pretty good for a Garou.” She hasn’t moved, despite Amy sitting up. “I’m sorry I can’t make it right. But this is what we’re all about. If you were Garou, it would be no different, because it would be charaching then. And that’s as bad or worse.”

She’s quiet a moment. “It’s not because you’re kin. It’s because he’s Metis.”

[Amy] “Nobody else sees it that way, Sar. Especially here. Owen told me I could pay him back by stopping trying to act like a trueborn and be respectful to those that really were. He doesn’t give a shit what I’ve done, all he sees is a mouthy kinfolk. He came and healed me because my boyfriend asked him to.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Have you told him what you’ve done? Have you told anyone how far you got back at your home sept?”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Or are you just expecting that they know?”

[Amy] “I can tell them all I want, Sar. Until I prove it, it’s just bullshit.”

[Amy] She lies back down next to Sar. “I don’t think I’m going to talk to Lukas. You should pack up.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “What do you mean, ‘I’ should?”

[Amy] “Exactly that. It’s the big league, that pack. You need to go for it. Without me on you like an anchor. I’ll still help as much as they let me, but I don’t think it’s going to do anybody any good trying to pretend like I belong there.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She shakes her head and just closes her eyes, not saying anything.

[Amy] “It’s huge, Sar. You have to go for it.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “I don’t care.”

[Amy] “What the fuck do you mean, you don’t care?”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Let’s go.”

[Amy] “Go where?”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “I don’t give a shit. Detroit. Miami. Honolulu. Cabo Fucking San Lucas. Who gives a shit? Out of here.”

[Amy] “No. Fuck you. You got offered a spot in fucking Lucas’ fucking pack. You don’t just walk the fuck away from that.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “You are.”

[Amy] “I can’t pack up. I’m just kin.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “And we agreed a long time ago that we’re a package deal. So if it’s not happening, we might as well have a few mai tais and watch a sunset.”

[Amy] “We can fucking agree that we see unicorns, Sar. That doesn’t mean anybody else is going to buy it.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Just…lay down, please? I don’t want to fight.”

[Amy] A few seconds pass before she lies back against her. “I don’t want to fuck this up for you. A pack like this doesn’t come around more than once.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “The only way it’s fucked up is if you’re not with me.”

[Amy] “It’s not like I’m fucking leaving.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “That’s not really the point.”

[Amy] “Then what is the fucking point?”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “The point is that we’re a team. You and me….package deal. And we can’t give up on that.”

[Amy] “Even if it costs you the pack?”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Maybe they won’t have you run into every battle. Maybe you gotta stay back when the Nexus Crawler comes out.” She shrugs. “Maybe…I don’t know. I do know that I’m not going to let you not at least talk to him.”

[Amy] “Jesus, you’re a nag.” Her tone is teasing “Okay. I’ll talk to him.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Good.” She takes a breath, letting her eyes half-close. “How are you feeling?”

[Amy] “Sore, but alright.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She doesn’t say anything, just puts an arm around Amy and sighs a bit.

[Amy] “How pissed off were you?”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She gives a bland shrug. “I was more worried at first.” She pauses. “I did my best to cover the…whole HIM situation with Leon.”

[Amy] “He knows now. That I don’t feel the same about him.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “And?”

[Amy] “And that he’s the one I’m with.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “And how is he with all that?”

[Amy] “He’s going to be a problem at some point. No matter what he says, I’m just a kin that needs to be kept in line to him.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “We’ll cross that bridge if and when we come to it.”

[Amy] “We probably will. But by then, maybe the pack thing will be set.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “It should be, hopefully.” A pause. “I killed a coke dealer out in Cabrini today.”

[Amy] “Yeah?” If she knows where it’s leading, she’s not letting on.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Yeah. Leon happened to drop a tidbit to me about you in a bathroom.” Her eyes shut the rest of the way. She doesn’t move. She stops breathing for a moment.

[Amy] There’s a long, long pause. “Oh.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “I just…” She shakes her hand and squeezes her arm around Amy. “I don’t understand. I don’t know if I want to.”

[Amy] “So you fucking killed somebody?”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Like I’ve never shot a drug dealer hanging out around a school in the face before.”

[Amy] She sighs. “I got it from some random person at the club.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Can I ask why?”

[Amy] “I don’t know. “Courage. ,maybe.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Can I ask you to please never do it again?” Her voice comes in soft and quiet. She sounds more like a 16-year-old girl than a thirty-year-old Ragabash with a passion for snark. “I don’t wanna make you feel bad about it. I just…I see someone who’s using and all I can think of is…why I hate it so much.”

[Amy] She sighs and wriggles to turn around, arm wrapped around Sarita. “Okay. It was just a little bit, and it’s not like I do it all the time. Hardly ever, really.

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She leans in and hugs Amy, as carefully as she can while still clinging for life. “Any other day you know I’d be reading you about seven different riot acts, right?”

[Amy] “Just seven?” She holds onto her tightly, quiet for several seconds. “We’re not just fucking around anymore, are we? Shit is starting to get serious.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She finally puts forth a smile, for the first time since right after Owen healed Amy. “As a heart attack while defusing a nuclear bomb in church, chickadeee.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Which, by the way, is not an activity I recommend.”

[Amy] She laughs a little. “Yeah, I can imagine the fuck not.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She sighs. “We’re staying in tonight.” As if that wasn’t obvious. “Fuck everyone else out there. Anyone short of Kyle–or maybe Gina–comes up and knocks, the door is not opening.”

[Amy] “Yeah. Fuck them, right? Nobody should have any reason to even want to stop in.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Not that I know of.” She smiles again. “You know we’ll have to have another serious talk later, right?”

[Amy] “About?”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Everything.” She shrugs. “What happened, where your head’s at after a little time’s set in. I mean, I wouldn’t be a good sister if I just let it drop. You’d do the same if it were me.”

[Amy] She’s quiet for a minute, then sighs. “Fuck me. Yeah, I would.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “I’m just givin’ you fair warning, so you can’t say you were blindsided.” She grins. “My sweet little ass is hereby covered.”

[Amy] “So it’s going to be one of THOSE talks.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Well, maybe. I can’t give away the ending now, can I? Spoilers suck.”

[Amy] “Maybe after we’re all packed up, I can talk to Katherine….”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She sighs. “I dunno.” She’s quiet for a moment, watching her. “At the least, give me a lot of warning before you do? We’re really gonna have to feel that out. I don’t know that it’ll fly, and if it doesn’t, we’ll all be fucked.”

[Amy] “Well, yeah. It

[Amy] It’s not like I’m going to march in first thing and be all hey, I’m pretty fucking twisted for you kin. You mind if I fuck the metis?”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She smirks. Her sense of humor is coming back in segments. “If we ever have to run and decide we want to run forever and EVER? You’re using that line.”

[Amy] She laughs. “Yeah, okay. Sacrifice my ass. I get it.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Naah, we’ll make sure the charges are set first so we can blow the joint.”

[Amy] “Don’t tease me.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] She chuckles a little. “We joke about detonating our prospective pack. We’re not normal, you know that?”

[Amy] “And thank fucking god for that. Boring as shit.”

[Sarita Ecos de la Risa] “Truer words were never spoken.”
